A Survey on the Degree of Dealth Anxiety of Suncho¢§n Citizen


Abstract
The main objectives of this study are:
1) to recognize the degree of death anxiety of subjects
2) to examine the relationship between the characteristics of subjects and death anxiety.
A survey was conducted to achieve those objectives. The data collected from 404 individuals whose age is between 15 and 77 by a predetermined questionnaire. Various statistical methods were adapted for the data analysis by using SPSS-PC + package.
The result of the data analysis could be summarized as follows:
1. The mean score of death anxiety is 60.23. The respondents expressed that they were worried about cancer or operation.
2. Those who have more death anxiety are female, unemployed and old ages whereas those who have a high educational career or a religion such as Christian much less.
Death anxiety is significantly correlated in a negative way with the health status, the satisfaction of a life and the economic level of a respondent.
Further researches may be necessary to support this study in the relationship between the detailed characteristics of subjects and death anxiety.
